About HRČAK
HRČAK is the central portal that in a single place comprises Croatian scientific and professional journals as well as journals for the popularization of science and culture that offer open access to their papers. HRČAK enables all users to find journals and papers by browsing alphabetically or by field of science, using simple and advanced search.
HRČAK offers publishers and editors an online site for publishing journals and conference proceedings, as well as tools supporting the editorial process that precedes publication. In HRČAK, editors can publish their journals in electronic form for free and increase its visibility and influence.
Editors and publishers are also enabled to use the following tools to support the editorial process and publish in open access:
- Open Journal Systems (OJS) - support for the editorial process of scientific and professional journals
- Open Monograph Press (OMP) - support for the editorial process of conference proceedings.
Via the OAI-PMH protocol HRČAK offers owners of information services metadata about all papers structured according to the Dublin Core and MODS standard. The structured list of journals included in the HRČAK is available in the KBART format.
The HRČAK portal was created in 2006 with the support of the former Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (today's Ministry of Science, Education and Youth), it was realized in SRCE, and the basic idea came from the Croatian Information and Documentation Society (HIDD). Editors, publishers and the wider academic and professional community are involved in the development and maintenance of the Portal through the HRČAK Advisory Board.
