On October 10, the European Commission hosted the launch of the EU EOSC Node, a digital platform marking a significant advancement in the development of open science. The EU EOSC Node provides researchers across Europe with simplified access to scientific data, publications, and services, promoting more efficient collaboration.
This technical event launching the EU EOSC Node (recording available) included an overview of the main concepts and features of the new digital platform, soon to be available to the wider public. The event showcased the structure of the EU EOSC Node platform, the services it offers to users, and demonstrated its potential applications. A promotional video, EOSC EU Node - Your Gateway to Open Science, was also presented, providing a general overview of the EU EOSC Node and its benefits for researchers and other users across Europe.
The presentation of the EU EOSC Node featured representatives from the Commission, the EOSC Association, and the EOSC Steering Board, highlighting the tripartite governance of EOSC established to implement EOSC policies across Europe, align national policies with EU policies, and advance the status of open science in Europe.
Two panel discussions were also held during the event. The first, titled Buildup of the EOSC Federation, focused on the building phase of EOSC, covering its development, organization, and other aspects. The second panel, EOSC in the Landscape of the Common European Data Spaces, spurred discussion on EOSC as a common European data space for research and innovation, part of the European data strategy, and its connection with other European data spaces.
The EU EOSC Node is the first established node, representing a new phase in EOSC’s development aimed at creating and interconnecting EOSC nodes. These nodes will provide greater visibility for services and resources, enhanced interoperability, and better utilization of research data. EOSC nodes may be institutional, national, or regional.
As the mandated organization of the Republic of Croatia in the EOSC Association, SRCE supports and actively participates in the implementation of EOSC across Europe, strengthening synergies for EOSC implementation in both Europe and Croatia.
