After the successful meeting last year, as part of the program on the third day of the SRCE DEI 2024 conference, the second Croatian tripartite meeting of EOSC will take place on April 18, 2024.
The meeting will bring together representatives from the three governance sides of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC): the EU, represented by the European Commission, the EOSC Association as the body operationally leading EOSC, and the EOSC member states represented in the EOSC Governing Board. The Ministry of Science and Education, scientists, researchers, and numerous other representatives from the open science community will also participate in the program.
National tripartite EOSC meetings are organized with the aim of strengthening synergy in the implementation of EOSC in Europe, advancing the open science system, and achieving alignment between national policies and EU policies. This year's edition will, in addition to reviewing the state of development and implementation of EOSC and open science in the EU and Croatia, focus on the skills and competencies of scientists and researchers needed for the application and development of open science and the utilization of all its advantages. The discussion will also address the need to develop competent individuals - data stewards - who can assist researchers in their work (at the institutional or field level) and provide support to institutional administrations in the formulation and implementation of open science-related policies.
To conduct research in line with open science principles and fully benefit from the advantages offered by the EOSC open science, scientists and researchers must acquire the necessary skills and competencies. They also need expert support at their institutions, primarily in data management knowledge, understanding the application of FAIR principles, using tools for open science and open access, and familiarity with the entire EOSC environment and services included in the European Open Science Cloud. The role of institutions and researchers, how research policies can contribute, and how to secure funding to provide the necessary support to scientists and researchers will be among the topics covered at this event.
Registration for participation will open in early March, and interested individuals are encouraged to follow the SRCE DEI 2024 Conference website for all updates.
