Srce je sudjelovalo u razmjeni iskustava vezanih uz razvoj repozitorijskih sustava na konferenciji PHAIDRAcon održanoj u Beču.
SRCE participated in the exchange of experiences related to the development of repository systems at the PHAIDRAcon conference held in Vienna.
At the conference organized by the University of Vienna, SRCE presented DABAR: Croatia's National Infrastructure for Digital Repositories. The presentation was delivered by Draženko Celjak, Head of the Data Management Sector.
PHAIDRAcon is an annual gathering of the community that develops and uses the PHAIDRA repository system. Like DABAR, PHAIDRA facilitates the organization, preservation, and dissemination of digital assets within institutions. Both systems are based on the Fedora repository framework. PHAIDRA’s development began in 2006 under the leadership of the University of Vienna team.
To recap, SRCE launched the national digital repository infrastructure, Digital Academic Archives and Repositories – DABAR, in 2015, initially supporting the storage and dissemination of students’ final theses. The development of DABAR involved several partner institutions, including the Ruđer Bošković Institute, the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, the National and University Library, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb, and many others.
Thanks to collaborative efforts, DABAR now supports the storage of 16 different types of digital objects, including various publications, theses, dissertations, artistic works, educational materials, datasets, and virtual collections.
Currently, 167 institutions from Croatia’s science and higher education system use DABAR for their institutional and thematic repositories. Through DABAR, more than 287,000 digital objects have been published to date. Built using the open-source Islandora framework, DABAR integrates the Fedora repository, Drupal content management system, and SOLR indexing system.
SRCE is currently working on the reimplementation of DABAR, replacing the Islandora and Drupal components with custom-developed software created by SRCE.
