SRCE has a long tradition of providing network services to institutions for institutions from the system of science and higher education.
In that period, the role that SRCE performed for a full 17 years (from 1992 to 2009) is certainly the most significant, and probably the most well-known to today's generation - the role of the network operating center of the CARNET network, whereby we can single out three periods/phases that (technologically ) marked the Heart of the NOC (Network Operations Center). These are: the initial phase of the Internet in Croatia from 1991 to 1995, when CARNET was launched as a project, the ATM phase of the CARNet network from 1995 to 2003, and the (Gigabit) Ethernet CARNet phase until 2009.
In addition, we should highlight the construction of local networks of student dormitories - StuDOM through four phases from 2004 to 2007, which resulted in more than 11,000 wired connections and 600 wireless access points, as well as long-term support for student dormitories (until 2020) in maintaining established network infrastructure.
In the last 20 years, Srce has also helped a number of institutions with advisory services in the establishment of network infrastructures and network services.
These activities have continued to this day through the following network services:
- Management of wireless networks includes more than 1,100 wireless access points located in more than 70 locations to which more than 50,000 user devices connect monthly.
- Network infrastructure of the University Borongaj campus has more than 70 network devices and 3,500 meters of DTK connections, which connect 17 campus facilities. The annual network traffic between the Borongaj campus and the Internet is more than 500 TB.
- Secondary DNS hosting server is used by more than 700 domains.
- Virtual IP telephone exchange at seven institutions serve more than 700 user phones, through which more than 150,000 calls per year are made.
